Mavin Record was founded by Micheal Collins Ajereh popularly known as Don Jazzy in 2012 after he settled with his former partner D’banj. The two ( Don Jazzy and D’banj) co-founded Mo-Hit Records. Mo-Hit Records is a record label that rocked the Nigerian Music scene prior to 2012.
Marvin’s record is the biggest and most influential record label in Nigeria as well as in West Africa. It has artists like Reekado Banks, Dr. Sid, D’prince, Korede Bello, Di Já, and Tiwa Savage. As a team, their songs occupy the Music Airways like Adaobi and Dorobucci.
YBNL stands for Yahoo Boy No Laptop. It was founded in Lagos by the indigenous rapper; Olamide also known as Badoo. Olamide established its own label imprints in 2012. His record label prides itself as one of the biggest in Nigeria. Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, and Viktoh are no longer artists with YBNL.
Recently, Temmie, Ovwasa, Lyta, Davolee, Limerick, and Star Prince to mention but a few also signed in. It houses big names in the producing department ranking amongst Richest and Best Music Producers in Nigeria( Pheelz and Young John the Wicked Producer).
Davido Music Worldwide
Davido was formerly a member of the HKN gang that was co-owned by him and his brother Wale. Two of his cousins were also signed into the record with the stage being Shina Rambo and B Red.
He left the record to establish his own; Davido Music Worldwide Entertainment Outfit and Label. Presently, he has Mayourkun and Dremo signed to his record label. His record is one of the biggest in Nigeria at the moment.
Made Men Music Group
This group was founded in 2012 by Iyanya and his Manager Triple G. The record label has grown in essence and relevance since it was created.
This music label now houses Tekno and Daci. The group birthed an album called The Evolution.
Empire Mates Entertainment was founded in 2002 by Banky W while in Albany, New York. EME found its way to Lagos when Banky W relocated back to Nigeria.
Wizkid; Star Boy was groomed from the streets by Banky W. Wizkid left EME Records to create Star Boy records.
EME is still very much active today and it houses Banky W, Niyola, rising Shay See, and DJ exclusive.
Five Star Music
Thus Label is headed by Enema Okonkwo popularly known as E-Money the elder brother of KCEE. The record label became well known after KCEE became very popular.
The record has KCEE, Harry Song, and Skiibii signed to the group. Harry Song later left the group but KCEE remained steadfast. The record label is still afloat because KCEE is raising the flag of his brother’s investment.
Capital Hills Record
This record label is owned by Clarence Peters; the son of the Nigerian Music legend; Shina Peters. The record label has been around for a while and it has earned a solid reputation among other labels in Nigeria.
It once was Chidinmma, The Suspect, and rapper Kel’s record label.
This record label came into being after Wizkid left EME Records. Wizkid launched his label imprint StarBoy Entertainment in 2013. According to Wizkid, he said he launched his record label to give upcoming musicians a chance at success.
His record label is one with a glaring identity in the Nigerian Music scene. Some musicians on his record labels are: Make Berry, Legendary Beatz, Efya, R2Bees, and Mr. Eazi among others.
The record label was founded in 2007 by Festus Ehimare, known as Emperor Geezy. The label became well known when it signed Kiss Daniel in 2013.
However, G Worldwide and Kiss Daniel went into a serious legal battle that resulted in Kiss Daniel Leaving the label to form his own FlyBoy Inc.
Spaceship Entertainment was birthed by the African Giant; Burna Boy in 2015. This record label has risen to the top from nothing.
